Dear Parents,

SEP appointments will be coming home today, please confirm your scheduled time and send back to school.  I am looking forward to meeting with each of you to discuss your darling student!  This is also Book Fair time.

For music this year each 4th grader needs a recorder, these can be purchased at Munson Music for $4.00.  Our 4th graders will be using them throughout the school year.

I am excited to hear the county reports.  Some have already been shared and they are great!

Curriculum News:

• Daily Five:  A lot has been going on in our Daily Five time.  Students have been practicing several fun ways to do Word Work, learning the procedures for Read to Someone, and writing every day!  My focus in Writing has been focused writing, IDEAS of the 6-Traits, and editing skills.  In Poetry students have been reading and making connections with different poems and authors.  Last week new high frequency words came home.  We will be having a test this week.  Next week individual words will be coming home.
• Math - Tests for Topic 1 came home last week, if you didn't see it yet ask your student about it.  My goal is for each student to reach 80% or higher.  This week in Math students will be Subtracting Whole Numbers, Subtracting with Zeros, Problem Solving, and practicing all of the concepts that we have been working on in Topic 2.  We have been doing some timed drills with addition and subtraction facts. 
• Science-  This week in Science we will be learning more about Deserts and Forests.  I love the enthusiasm this class has about Science.  It is so fun to teach and work with them.
• Social Studies/ART - Focus this week will be sharing County Reports.  Our Art project will be tied in with Poetry and Science.

Homework:

• Daily Math and Language #6, due on Friday
• Nightly reading, mark minutes on reading calendar
